“My husband’s mother was knitting,(she passed away, God rest her soul) She was knitting and selling, also knitting for us, for them – and so I had a great keenness for it. – OLELELELEYYY I want to do that too! I want to learn because I am going to have a baby, and I want the baby to be clothed all by me, for my children to be dressed in clothes I have made all by myself. And that’s how I learned…They are not nice from the machine, the knitted things. I don’t know why…There must be merak*, if there is no merak, nothing can be done… Look these little t.v characters, even they have cardigans, hand knitted ones. ” Yanka Simova

*merak means a passionate desire and commitment to pursue something.
