The spring of 2020 turned the life of every one of us upside-down. Yet, in the Plovdiv district of Stolipinovo, which, some say, is “the largest ghetto in Europe”, it may have led to new beginnings! The work of Duvar Koletiv got entangled with the tumultuous developments there: an aggressive police blockade, the fear and hunger of people left without any opportunity for subsistence, the amazing mobilisation of intra-communal solidarity, the unrelenting attack by the media and politicians, the growth of pan-continental relations with the Stolipinovo diaspora, and even the setting up of a community media blog. Our 2020 artistic project “Duvarmuseum” transformed from a focus on co-creating art and expanding a cultural scene in Stolipinovo, to a series of interventions in the neighbourhood, supporting those new energies.
“Stolipinovo Spring” opens for the Plovdiv public a small part of the Turkish & Roma minority’s life in the district, and presents four of the processes in which Duvar Kolektiv got involved in 2020:
You are warmly invited to come and see!
Duvarmuzei Vol. 1: Handmade
Duvarmuzei Vol. 2: The Voice of Silenced Society
Duvarmuzei Vol. 3: Stolipinovo Cleaning Agency
Duvarmuzei Vol. 4: Allah razı olsun!
You will have the chance to learn what is behind these headings on Sunday the 25th, at five o’clock.
Duvar Kolektiv is a socially engaged art collective, that works with process-based art in order to confront the social impacts of difference, and to enable people to connect to each other on a human level. Artworks are made through intensive and profound collaboration.

The project “Duvarmuzei” is realised with the financial assistance of “Socially Engaged Art” program of the National Cultural Fund.
